On November 12th, LiangDao hosted the Autonomous Driving Meetup at our new Berlin office, bringing together over 100 industry professionals to exchange insights on the future of autonomous driving. The event opened with keynotes by Michael Biel, State Secretary at the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, and Thomas Meißner from Berlin Partner, both highlighting Berlin’s strategic role in the mobility sector and its strong partnership with LiangDao, which has been based in the city since 2018.
Dr. Shengguang Lei, CTO of LiangDao, opened the technical sessions with a presentation on LD Data Factory – an intelligent, AI-powered toolchain for training and testing ADAS/AD functions. He highlighted the critical role of data in advancing autonomous systems, demonstrating how 4D ground truth data enhances perception accuracy and reliability. LD Data Factory integrates data management, perception software, and annotation tools to streamline development and reduce labeling effort by up to 90%.
The event continued with three additional technical presentations. “Connecting Road and Simulation” explored a Road-to-Simulation approach for mapping real-world scenarios into simulation environments and identifying development gaps. “How to Trust our Maps? AI-based Change Detection in HD Maps” addressed the challenges of maintaining accurate HD maps and introduced AI-driven techniques for detecting and verifying changes under real-world conditions. Finally, “Unlocking L4 Rollout with Teleoperations” focused on how teleoperations can support the safe and cost-effective deployment of Level 4 autonomous vehicles by managing long-tail events and reducing the need for extensive edge-case handling.
Another highlight of the event was a live demonstration of LiangDao’s reference system for validation – LD Compass. The demo showcased the systems’s capability to enable simultaneous data capture and real-time 3D perception, supporting both autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems with improved precision, safety, and situational awareness.
